Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling one of their most popular models from its luxury brand, Acura. The recall affects 8,300 – 2015 Acura TLX models 2WD and 4WD vehicles.
If you own one of these vehicles, here’s what you need to know…
The Recall Issue:
In affected vehicles, the automatic transmission wire harness connections may have insufficient crimps in the transmission which may lead the transmission control unit to misinterpret certain electrical signals and unexpectedly engage a “failsafe” mode, shifting the transmission into the neutral position. This would cause a loss of motive power and could increase the risk of a crash.
Acura will notify owners and if your vehicle is part of the recall (confirmed by checking your transmissions serial number), the dealership will update the transmission software to prevent the transmission from shifting to neutral. The repair/update is totally FREE.
Honda has already begun notifying owners. If you have not received any notification from Honda/Acura and you believe your vehicle is part of this recall, please contact Acura client relations on 1-888-234-2138. The internal Honda/Acura recall number is KC2.
To give yourself peace of mind, visit www.safecar.gov or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration vehicle safety hotline on 1-888-327-4236. Remember if your car is part of a recall, all repairs to your vehicle are 100% FREE. You should never be asked to prepay for a recall repair and wait for reimbursement. #Never
